Medications that can Cause Depression (2018 Update)

11:09
Needed medications can be life-savers, and should never be discouraged. But, very often, a medication with significant side effects can be substituted with a medication which gives the same therapeutic effect, without the unwanted side effects. A single pill can have hundreds of listed "possible" side effects, these can be very hard to keep up with. But, when you take 2 or 3 pills daily, the possible side effects don't just double or triple, they multiply. One medication may not cause depression alone, but when combined with another pill, it might lead to significant depression. This video goes through the most common medications which can risk depression, or worsen existing depression. This video is not medical advice, do not stop or change any medication you are presently taking without consulting first with your doctor. 200+ common medications may cause depression, study finds

03:25
New research warns depression could be a side effect of more than 200 commonly prescribed medications. They include beta-blockers for blood pressure, birth control pills, antacids and painkillers. Depression rates more than tripled when people used at least three drugs with the possible side effect, compared to people who take none of those medications. Dr. Tara Narula, a cardiologist at Northwell Health, joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss the study's findings and what patients should do if they're concerned. Overview: The Most and Least Effective Antidepressants

05:25
522 randomized controlled trials involving 21 antidepressants and 116,477 people were analyzed. It appears the most effective antidepressants (at a duration of 8 weeks) include amitriptyline, escitalopram, mirtazapine, paroxetine, and venlafaxine. While reboxetine and trazodone had notably lower efficacy ratings. Some of the most effective drugs had lower tolerability scores, however, indicating they may have a greater side effect burden. The antidepressant literature shows signs of potential bias, so the results have to be considered with that in mind. 7 Reasons Why People QUIT Taking Medication For Bipolar Disorder!

16:16
Want MORE personal advice and helpful Bipolar videos that are not on YouTube? Consider becoming a Polar Warrior Patron here: https://www.patreon.com/PolarWarriors Those of us who have Bipolar Disorder often experience a “love hate” relationship with our medications. Finding the right combination can be a life-changing or even life-saving experience for many of us, but not all of us. Some of us are lucky and experience immediate relief from Bipolar symptoms, while others may take months or years to find the right treatment. Considering the vast number of us who quit taking medication at some point along our journey, we wanted to discuss some of the most common reasons why this happens. Having a bad experience with the wrong medication can cause strong feelings of discouragement, frustration, and even fear of trying new meds in the future. We hope that this information helps encourage our viewers to not give up on finding the stability and balance they deserve. PLEASE NOTE: I completely understand and respect that there are MANY effective forms of treatment when it comes to Bipolar Disorder – meds being just one of them. Bipolar Disorder requires a “comprehensive approach” to treatment, which means it isn't just “one thing” that “fixes” Bipolar Disorder. It's up to each individual to explore and choose which forms of treatment work best for them. I am not a doctor, and not saying that medication is the right answer for everyone. I'm simply trying to help advocate for Bipolar Disorder by getting more information out there. If you feel there's something I missed, please join the conversation in the comments so we can all benefit from sharing our knowledge and experiences. I gathered that no other being on the face of the Earth could possibly be feeling this tormented, distraught, and doomed. Many of those times, those were just thoughts. However, there was one very distinct night, not too long ago, where those thoughts may have held some truth. The morning of was no different than any other morning. Upon waking, if I was lucky enough to ever fall asleep, a gut-wrenching, debilitating anxiety clawed at my insides. Incessant fearful thinking and neuroses about completely irrational things plagued me. The anxiety never came because of circumstances; it existed completely independent of external structures. I had extreme physical pain and inflammation all over my body, as if I had the flu. The first two hours of the day, I would drink a gallon of distilled water, stretch to binaural beats, and sing lullabies or a mantra over and over again to distract myself from dark thoughts. I would then do the five Tibetan rites. In order to have a bowel movement, I had to massage my colon with a lacrosse ball as taught in the Tao, and drink two laxative teas the night prior. Any interruption in this 2+ hour dance, and I would not poop, and the physical matter that represented the previous day’s energy, would stagnate in my body and my clenched and fearful gut would prevent it from being released. When this happened, neither enemas nor colonics could come to my rescue. It was a guaranteed day of torment. I cannot speak of the symptoms that came when the previous day’s energy remained inside of me, for I would lose many readers too early in this story. But I will tell you that on this day in particular, I was not able to poop, for I truly had too much on my mind. Reverse Depression In 6 Weeks

06:51
😃 SUBSCRIBE ►http://bit.ly/BrandSubscribe Not a clickbait title. It's a literal and realistic goal to reverse depression quickly if you do a good job at investigating issues with functional medicine testing. The gut is a huge source of issues that create neurotransmitter issues, leading to anxiety, depression, and fatigue. Psychologists and psychiatrists don't talk about your diet or lifestyle with you, do they? Nor do they talk about parasite infections... which was a huge roadblock in my road to happiness which was fixed. And, depression is definitely NOT a deficiency of antidepressant drugs which have depression as a side effect! free phone consultation: http://bit.ly/freeconsultlink filmed this video on this: http://amzn.to/2bbwktd with this microphone: http://amzn.to/2b9ea1o Other Small Camera: http://amzn.to/2bbc8Ln Bendy Tripod: http://amzn.to/2b9e9L7 Lav Mic: http://amzn.to/2bY5Y48 Laptop: http://amzn.to/2bOaP6x Drone: http://amzn.to/2bbwJvQ follow me; on facebook: https://facebook.com/mrevanbrand on twitter: https://twitter.com/mrevanbrand instagram: https://instagram.com/mrevanbrand Evan Brand, BCHN, CFMP, NTP, CPT bio: Evan Brand is an Author, Podcast Host and a Louisville, Kentucky-based Board-Certified Holistic Nutritionist, Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner, Nutritional Therapist, and Personal Trainer. 2-Minute Neuroscience: Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs)

02:01
SSRIs are the most widely-used treatment for depression, and have been since their introduction to the market in the late 1980s. They were formulated based on the hypothesis that depression is due to low levels of the neurotransmitter serotonin. In this video, I discuss how SSRIs work, along with some questions that have been raised about the serotonin hypothesis since the introduction of SSRIs. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to 2 minute neuroscience, where I explain neuroscience topics in 2 minutes or less. In this installment I will discuss selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs. SSRIs were developed in the 1970s with the goal of treating depression by increasing serotonin levels. This goal was formulated based on the serotonin hypothesis of depression, which suggests that depression is caused by low levels of the neurotransmitter serotonin. SSRIs work by inhibiting a mechanism called reuptake. In reuptake, a protein called a transporter transports excess neurotransmitter molecules out of the synaptic cleft, usually back into the neuron that released them. SSRIs inhibit the reuptake of serotonin. By inhibiting the removal of serotonin from the synaptic cleft, this causes levels of serotonin in the synaptic cleft to rise. These increases in serotonin levels have been hypothesized to be the mechanism by which SSRIs can treat the symptoms of depression. There are reasons now, however, to believe that there must be more to the mechanism of SSRIs than just changing serotonin levels. For example, when someone begins taking an SSRI, they generally have to wait about 4 weeks before their symptoms improve. Evidence suggests, however, that their serotonin levels rise as quickly as within an hour after taking the medication. Thus, it seems likely that SSRIs may affect serotonin levels, which then leads to other effects that influence the symptoms of depression. Therefore it’s probable that more than serotonin levels must be changed for SSRIs to work, which suggests that depression isn’t caused only by low serotonin levels. Additionally, evidence has now emerged that questions the effectiveness of SSRIs. Some research has found they do not work much better than placebos, and may only benefit those who are most severely depressed, which is a minority of patients who actually take the drugs. HOW I HEALED FROM PSYCHOSIS, CHRONIC DEPRESSION, PANIC ATTACKS WITH NO MEDICATIONS!

30:11
Sharing my holistic healing journey with healing from SEVERE DEEP PSYCHOSIS, DEPRESSION, SUICIDAL IDEATIONS, Chronic lingering ANXIETY, PANIC ATTACKS, and PERSISTENT BINGE EATING. Forgot a few other points: 1) never claim psych diagnosis. This was something I NEVER did. Only speaking with these labels for video purposes and that what ppl recognize. 2) SELF LOVE & Acceptance IS PRIORITY OVER EVERYTHING. Resistance hinders healing and i was in fight mode for several months. 3. NATURE AND MEDITATION. Meditation wasnt something that I could personally handle until several yrs later. But sitting in the grass and absorbing the sunlight is always healing. 4. Diet: Usually if you initiate an kundalini awakening during your journey, you will be intuitively prompted to decrease or refrain from eating meat and animal products. I believe it has to happen in phases. I don't think jumping right into Gut healing animal products diets are really what the body could handle when severely overloaded and needing to purge physically, energetically, emotionally, parasites, heavy metals, past lives type stuff. There a lot of purging happening if u choose to awaken during your healing journey.. vegetable foods, detox juices, work more with the purging for a while then transition to gut healing diet when heavy purging is over. I wouldn't recommend sugary fruits. melons, berries, acai, and green apple type stuff is better. Fruit is heavily altered and most are way too sweet to eat in large amounts. . High BITTER greens & are very healing especially energetically, avoid tons of veggies that disrupt thyroid function. THYROID needs to be optimal while detoxing. low sugar, trace minerals, gelatins, and collagens is better but every case is different depending on multiple different factors. Don't think I could ever eat the amount of animal products I eat now, back then. NO WAY..detoxing is happening on all levels if your kundalini starts to activate. Can't really explain everything here...lol Feel free to email me if any questions or would like further guidance: renewedhealing33@gmail.com Never mute your voice or disown your story. It just prolongs your integration..lol IG: https://www.instagram.com/nadiairis_/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100012147274440 website: https://nadiairis.squarespace.com/ I'm Nadia, Holistic health nurse, Certified Mind-Body Coach, Reiki energy healer, & intuitive empath , here to help those needing guidance through their awakening that may have difficult symptoms such as constant anxiety, panic attacks, depression, and episodic psychosis. I suffered through a mental breakdown (extreme dissociation from reality), depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, binge eating, and the list goes on but choose not to take any pills and pursued a more holistic route which eventually prompted me into a kundalini awakening journey. TMS for Severe Depression at Loyola Medicine

02:24
Loyola Medicine patient Ed Pope described his depression as an "overwhelming sadness that started to consume me." A noninvasive FDA-approved treatment called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) lifted his depression. The treatment uses magnetic pulses to stimulate the brain, causing neurons to fire, which improves symptoms. TMS is intended for patients with moderate to severe depression who are not getting enough relief from medications or psychotherapy. "I cannot say enough about it," Mr. Pope said. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please visit https://www.loyolamedicine.org/psychology/transcranial-magnetic-stimulation or call 708-216-5093.

The Stress - Depression Connection, Explained | MedCircle News [2018]

01:39
To receive MedCircle News right to your inbox each week, click here: http://bit.ly/2FqNgQW Read the original article & full video transcription HERE: http://bit.ly/2FvtRhI The brain is incredibly complex. But we may now be one step closer on to understanding how it works. This is MedCircle News. According to Forbes.com, a recent study using mice found that stress and depression could be related. When researchers affected the mice brains with repeated bouts of stress, they observed immune responses that released cytokines. These are proteins that are used to indicate inflammation in mice and humans. This lead affected the prefrontal cortex of the brain and caused behavior in line with depression. Or, more simply put, “the researchers were able to observe a series of falling dominoes starting with stress, leading to inflammation, leading to depression, all playing out through an immune response in the brain.” Of course, what affects mice doesn’t necessarily mean it will affect humans in the same way. However, it is an interesting discovery and with lots of potential implications. One implication would be developing new medication to treat people who suffer from stress-induced depression. These new medications would likely target the stress components rather than neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, which is today’s standard when it comes to antidepressants. Skype Counseling using mindfulness - Overcome Anxiety & Depression without medications

06:43
Skype Counseling using mindfulness - Overcome Anxiety & Depression without medications. Visit https://pdmstrong.wordpress.com/skype-counseling-for-anxiety-and-depression/ to schedule a Skype therapy session with Dr. Peter Strong, specialist in online mindfulness therapy for anxiety and depression. The key to overcoming anxiety and depression is to use mindfulness to learn how to make friends with your emotions. This is an absolute pre-requisite for lasting healing from anxiety and depression. Welcome. My name is Peter Strong and I'm a professional online therapist specializing in Mindfulness Therapy. So I offer Skype counselling using mindfulness to overcome anxiety and depression without medications. Medications may provide a temporary relief from symptoms of anxiety or depression but medications do nothing to change the underlying cause of your anxiety and depression and that is the focus of mindfulness-based Skype counseling. It is really to teach you how to use mindfulness to work with your anxiety or depression or other forms of emotional suffering, and to use mindfulness in a way that brings about healing. That is the primary focus of mindfulness-based counseling - to not just learn to understand your anxiety or depression, is not just to see the negative beliefs that are fueling your anxiety or depression - but it's learning how to heal the emotions themselves so that they don't continue to fuel the negative beliefs and behaviors and so on and thought patterns that continue to fuel anxiety and depression. So we do this by actually learning how to meditate on our emotions. We learn to place the emotion in our conscious awareness and hold them there but without becoming identified with those emotions. When we can do this then we can break free from the pattern of habitual thinking that fuels the anxiety or depression. And this is a chief property of Mindfulness Therapy and mindfulness-based training, in general, learning how to be with the mind without becoming identified with the contents and without becoming reactive. When you become reactive you simply feeds emotional suffering. When you can develop what is called equanimity in relationship to your emotions, then you set up the right conditions that promotes natural healing of anxiety and depression. So that's the first stage of mindfulness training and mindfulness-based counseling, is learning how to establish a balanced relationship with your emotions and with your thoughts as well. The second stage of mindfulness training that we cover in the mindfulness counselling sessions that I teach, is how to actually facilitate the healing of those emotions directly, and the primary ingredient, I would say, that really catalyzes healing is friendliness, is actually developing a friendly and compassionate relationship with your emotions. This is very very effective, in deed, and counters the other great cause of our suffering, which is avoidance. The most typical thing that we do is run away from our painful emotions. But that has the unfortunate effect of actually strengthening our anxiety or depression. So cultivating friendliness or equanimity toward our emotions is absolutely vital and is what is necessary for promoting healing. It works extremely well. Most of the clients that I work with have tried medications and many other forms of therapy, usually with rather dismal results. The chief problem that I find is that in none of these cases have these people been actually encouraged to develop a friendly relationship with their mind. It's all about trying to control the mind and trying to fix it. Trying to change your belief structures, and so on, and that just is not going to be effective. You must establish a kind and compassionate relationship with your emotions if you hope for them to change and heal. So if you would like to learn more about mindfulness-based counseling, do please go to my website and if you'd like to schedule a Skype counseling session with me, then please send me an email and we can arrange for a time that works for you. I see people throughout North America and worldwide. All that's required is that you have internet access, a working version of Skype, and PayPal to make secure online payments after each of your sessions with me. So if you'd like to get started please send me an email and schedule a session of mindfulness-based Skype counseling.
