Pleaseee! You are the only one on YT comparing these drugs. I am curious about weight gain. I have been on Zoloft for a year and have gained 30 pounds. I am an athlete as well but it makes me not want to workout and makes me hungry.
Hey girl good on you for taking care of yourself ! I’m currently going through the same thing as what you’re talking about. My Zoloft has quit working on me after 4yrs of it previously working.😕 So now I’m slowly titrating down on it and starting on Lexapro. I don’t know how you take the lexapro at night because it gives me a boost of energy kinda like a cup of coffee or tea. I also gained weight on Zoloft. 😒 Do u live in California? I’ve been looking for a fellow mom that understands me and can excercise together. 😊
Have been on lexapro for 8 months. Originally took 10 mg and felt AWFUL .. super tired, unmotivated and felt more sad. Doctor changed it to 20mg and works like magic. Haven’t had a bad day since. Not tired didn’t gain weight not super hungry like I used to be. I was able to breastfeed my son with it while on the 10mg dosage. No side effects for the baby and was okd by pediatrician and my physician. I took it for post partum which transitioned into full blown depression.
I was on zoloft for around a month until I had a super bad side effect
& had to stop suddenly. Zoloft made me loose hella weight and didn't make me wanna eat. Then I started Lexapro, best decision. I had tiny side effects the first weeks but now I can slowly start to feel the benefits.. Haven't been on lexapro for even a full month yet, but pretty sure I will stick to it. Hope you're feeling good :)

Actually i left my medication, venlor xr, but there was some sudden shock like electricity in my mind like seziurs. I was tolerating this for 10 days but this was not cover-up my mind. Then i recently took it again. Now i am fine but i really want help from your side. It really help
I am totally frustrated.
Ive been on 25mg zoloft for 2 month and it has work for my anixety but im like you i dont like the fact that i have to keep uping the dose.So im switching to lexapro.I was wondering did you have to taper off the zoloft or were you able to switch to Lexapro like that.My Dr said its ok to switch but dont know if it cool to do so,really dont want to deal with horrible side effects
Didn’t you ever experience hair loss with either, mainly Zoloft? Im supposed to start that today but I’ve seen so many hair loss cases. I took lexapro for a month but the stomach discomfort was too much. But I think I’d prefer lexapro
Lexapro is for Anxiety, Depression and OCD disorder. Side effects are worse for men, but overall not bad. kills any proper erections to have intercourse for at-least two weeks, (which was frustrating), makes it way harder to ejaculate (Girlfriend loves that one XD), gave me nausea, etc.
thank you for sharing.. I am soon to start on meds but my doctor is still discussing what's best for me. I'm interested more to take lexapro since the side effects of Zoloft seem like a common thread that scares me.
I was thinking probably not burning enough calories. Usually increased appetite is a good sign. You have to do things to burn those calories off, however. I agree with you about being skeptical about antidepressants making you gain weight, however .. I believe it's because they make people feel better and so they eat more.
Do you take it for depression or anxiety or both? I have had clinical depression for 18 yrs. I tried diff antidepressants and settled on Zoloft because it didn't affect my sleep. Fast forward to now and I am completely upside down with my body clock and not sleeping well so I have decided my body is immune to Zoloft. I got a 10mg Rx of Lexapro tonight. I am taking 1/2 tonight and hope it doesn't keep me awake.
Does it affect your sleep? If you take it for depression, have you had other side effects?
Women 65 and Over I take lexepro in the morning as it's an activating ssri so yes it might keep you awake. It's common for your clinician to instruct you to take it in the morning to avoid disruption to sleep. I also found at higher doses over 10mg I needed seroquel to sleep because of it but everyone's different. Also initially it can cause increased energy and anxiety and trouble sleeping but this is short term 3-6 weeks and then should ease off
When I started Zoloft I did not sleep for 2 weeks, It did kind of work for me as the anxiety lowered and I was able to do a few things around the house that had me triggered and living in fear of. But I was still having big waves of depression, So I am now in a detoxing faze before trying Lexapro. Thanks for your video :-)
Joshua Cabrera yes and yes. I felt more energy because I didn’t feel down and depressed. Just the first week ish I had trouble sleeping but after it’s in my system I was good to go when I went to sleep.
Is Lexapro and Escitalopram the same medicine? I have been taking escitalopram 10mg since 6 weeks and see no difference in my anxiety. I still have to take a bit of benzo in the morning in order to be calm. What about you?
Not true. Lexapro or generic escitalopram (sp?) Is mainly given for Anxiety an depression but works well for anxiety or GAD. It has a antihistamine hence sleepy feeling or calmed down feeling. Its sister is Celaxa. It does not have the sleepyness added to it. Each antidepressant is totally diff. One can work for one person an not the other. Zoloft is more activating. But you have to get thrue the first wks to reach the therapeutic dose. Im on 5mg of generic Lexapro. I have very bad GAD an depression. Both go hand n hand. Ive tried 13 meds. 2nd time on Lex. But only got to 10mg. But was taking a opiate at same time. Turns out Codeine blocks the usefulness of Lexapro. So I thought it wasnt working. Wt gain an sleepy all time for 2 mths. So stopped. Now I know this an back to it due to it had least bad side effects for me. The worst was Zoloft. Ugh.. anorexia, diarrhea, liver pain an enzymes went waaay up. Labs went bad. Flu like aches all over. Had to stop. After I stopped it all went away in 4 wks. Brain zaps are common or dizziness when stopping but always taper down. Effexor an Cymbalta. OMG. Horrible getting off!! Never again. Prozac bad. For me. It might help someone else just not me. So on day 4 of 5mg easing up to 10mg in another wk. Im sensitive to meds apparently an if this doesnt work doing the genetic cheek swab for which psychotropic is best suited for my body chemistry. Im also in menopause so Im sure hormones are an issue. Ive had this since 2014 at 46. So goodluck! #sicknotweak #noshame
Do you really need to be taking this at all? You are perfectly normal. There is nothing wrong with you. People should learn to better express their genuine feelings rather than try to suppress them. Feeling and expressing anger is normal and healthy.
Im a mother of two as well and everything you said in this video I relate to so much! I am on Zoloft, have been for months now and have gained a lot of weight along with other side effects. I know this is personal but do you find that either medication affects your sex drive?
I was on Zoloft for 2 years and I swear I’d never want to have sex. I only had sex to help my ex boyfriends needs but if it wasn’t for that I could have went the whole time without it and been just fine.
Since I have the same problem I'll tell you about my experience. My libido suffers under both actually (depending on the dose of Zoloft - above 50mg very much so, only 50mg, it's not thaaaaaat bad..) but with Lexapro even at 10mg. The thing though is, Lexapro just helps better so I had to make little sacrifices. My Doctor gave me a smal dose of Ritalin (I also have an ADD diagnosis) which helps (by increasing Dopamin in the brain) with my sex-drive. (taken ca 30 min before having intercourse). Does Zoloft effect your libido? I hope I could help, I know how difficult and annoying it is.
anna Morris I would say the Zoloft did when I first started taking it. The lexapro however makes me feel better then normal! I’m really scared if I get pregnant because I can’t take lexapro while pregnant 😭
Antidepressants are medications that can help relieve symptoms of depression, social anxiety disorder, anxiety disorders, seasonal affective disorder, and dysthymia, or mild chronic depression, as well as other conditions.
They aim to correct chemical imbalances of neurotransmitters in the brain that are believed to be responsible for changes in mood and behavior.
Depression Medications (Antidepressants)
These are the most commonly prescribed type of antidepressant.
Serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) are used to treat major depression, mood disorders, and possibly but less commonly attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, menopausal symptoms, fibromyalgia, and chronic neuropathic pain.
SNRIs raise levels of serotonin and norepinephrine, two neurotransmitters in the brain that play a key role in stabilizing mood.
Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are the most commonly prescribed antidepressants. They are effective in treating depression, and they have fewer side effects than the other antidepressants.
SSRIs block the reuptake, or absorption, of serotonin in the brain. This makes it easier for the brain cells to receive and send messages, resulting in better and more stable moods.
They are called "selective" because they mainly seem to affect serotonin, and not the other neurotransmitters.
