Correct me if I'm wrong here but wouldn't the genotype be hetero/homo and the phenotype be AA/AO/O ?

The genotype is the type of genes (alleles) present (AA/AO/OO etc). The Phenotype is the physical trait that's actually expressed (Type O blood, Type A blood). The terms heterozygous and homozygous refer to the genotype. For example, if you have the genotype "AA," you're homozygous for the A allele, and your phenotype is "Type A" blood. If you have the genotype "AB," you're heterozygous (having one A allele and one B allele), and your phenotype is "Type AB" blood. Hope that helps.

Blood type is multiple allele, so it's not Mendelian genetics..?!
