A basic overview of capacitors and capacitance. Created By David Santo Pietro. Watch the next lesson: https://www.khanacademy.org/science/physics/circuits-topic/circuits-with-capacitors/v/capacitance?utm_source=YT&utm_medium=Desc&utm_campaign=physics Missed the previous lesson? https://www.khanacademy.org/science/physics/circuits-topic/circuits-resistance/v/electrolytic-conductivity?utm_source=YT&utm_medium=Desc&utm_campaign=physics Physics on Khan Academy: Physics is the study of the basic principles that govern the physical world around us. We'll start by looking at motion itself. Then, we'll learn about forces, momentum, energy, and other concepts in lots of different physical situations. To get the most out of physics, you'll need a solid understanding of algebra and a basic understanding of trigonometry. About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content. For free. For everyone. Forever. #YouCanLearnAnything Subscribe to Khan Academy’s Physics channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0oGarQW2lE5PxhGoQAKV7Q?sub_confirmation=1 Subscribe to Khan Academy: https://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=khanacademy

How do the electrons move through the battery, and if they do why does the potential difference in a battery last so long if there’s this internal current in side the battery...

Is the same electron that moves through the battery before and after flowing through it. I mean inside the battery is there the same electron flow as through the metallic wire. Could you clarify me what's happening inside the battery? Thank you

With due respect, a Capacitor always stores electrical energy, not charge. Net charge is zero, as mentioned in Video.Thank u!

This is what learning is called. I love you, khan. I love you more than anyone, even more than my girlfriend if she exists somewhere in the parallel universe.

When you say we can increase the capacitance by altering the physical properties of the capacitor itself, such as by making it bigger, do you mean making the surface area bigger? So does it mean that we can have a small dimension of capacitor with large surface area thus resulting in high capacitance?
파랑색쿠키 (4 месяца назад)
Thank you so much! For the first time in my life, I finally understand what is capacitor.....

What about the negatively charged protons and the positively charged electrons?
Mohamad Mohamad (10 месяцев назад)
Love this!
no (10 месяцев назад)
the protons stay in place? no. the positively charged holes move in the opposite direction. you aren't making acid.

Anyone can tell me the way to use a capacitor by calculation method....not by its working....... I searched everywhere on YouTube...but did not find that at which moment and what value of capacitor should we use? There should be a video on it....
